You want to embrace challenges, change and uncertainty without stress and raise clarity, focus, resilience and confidence so you can see the hidden possibilties.
Wellbeing and High performance happens by CHOICE not chance. Your mindset and mental models determine the results you get.
Choose where you focus attention: You can’t change the world around you. You can change how you respond.
Are you aware of how you pay attention to the outside world, what you focus on, what you notice, how you interpret it, and how you act as a result? It affects every high performance trait, including how confident, resilient, determined and happy you are. Systems thinking, Mental Toughness and Positive Intelligence are three important tools for achieving high performance with wellbeing and not stress, even under pressure.
How you manage your emotional state and maintain a positive and optimistic outlook (which is not about ignoring risks) makes a significant difference. The research shows that across all sectors and industries high emotional intelligence (EI or EQ) supports higher performance with higher welbeing and less conflict.
Its not what happens to you that matters, but how you respond that makes the difference.
Resilient people, teams and organisations respond to complex challenging circumstances more effectively, and feel less stressed by the situation.
People describe resilience as ‘bouncing back’. Resilience might look like bouncing back from the outside, but from the inside, it is much more strategic. It involves awareness of (i) how mindset, thinking habits and emotions influence your perceptions and responses to a situation and (ii) how your actions today influence the outcomes you get both now and in future.
My inner strategic approach, drawing on systems awareness and the inner sustainability mindset, enhances your capacity to prepare and position yourself for success now and in future, with higher performance, adaptability and wellbeing. It shifts you out of the cycles of repeated firefighting, conflicts or stress.
This approach with your teams and your organisation enhances your capacity to create the context, culture and environment that supports people to be their best, collaborate with colleagues and create resilient, high performing teams with high engagement and high wellbeing.
This session looks at how you can adapt and be resilient to change, uncertainty and other complex challenges. Adaptability, flexibility and resilience are three of the vital skills identified by the World Economic Forum for success now and in future as the way we work is changing.
Have you ever wondered how some people manage challenging situations without stress and retain high wellbeing? Have you also ever wondered what makes someone a good leader? A good manager? A good parent? A good athlete? A successful business owner? Usually we talk about skills, talent and ability, or strategy, plans and goals. Yet research consistently shows that these are just a small part of it. Mental Strength (also called Mental toughness or grit), makes a much bigger impact. Mental Strength is a special kind of resilience and is more than just bouncing back from adversity. It is the mindset that enables you to retain high wellbeing, perform at your best even under pressure, embrace adversity, find the opportunities and thrive no matter what the circumstances.
The Harvard Business Review (HBR) reports that about 80% of business and individual success comes down to grit, perseverance or mental strength. Top executives rate about 70-90% of success is due to mental performance and top athletes rate it higher at 90 – 95%. At the top level of sport, everyone has the high level of physical skills needed to win. What sets the winners apart is their mental strength, also called mental toughness, to perform at their best under challenge, stress and pressure.
Recognising that “it’s not what happens to you but how you respond that makes the difference” creates the opportunity for you to choose different ways to respond that are adaptable and resilient. We look at how you can take control of your mindset, grow your mental strength and try out core tools and resources to make sure you have high resilience and wellbeing no matter how fast the world and the workplace changes.
